Flick’s two favourite players leave for Real Madrid

Barcelona is currently under considerable strain as Joan Laporta directs the club in a way that has fans increasingly worried. This growing tension is becoming evident to Hansi Flick, who, despite his initial excitement upon joining Barcelona, is beginning to grasp the obstacles he faces in pursuing titles with the team.

According to reports from Spanish newspaper Defensa Central, Flick had specifically requested two players from Germany, whom he had previously coached at Bayern Munich, to strengthen Barcelona’s full-back positions. The players in question, Alphonso Davies and Jérémie Frimpong, were on Flick’s wishlist, but his requests were turned down.

Davies has his sights set on joining Real Madrid by 2025, while Frimpong prefers to remain at Bayer Leverkusen for another year, with hopes of receiving an offer from Real Madrid. Frimpong dreams of playing alongside Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior at the Santiago Bernabéu. The report also indicates that Flick personally reached out to Davies, but due to the player’s salary demands, Laporta dismissed the idea, leaving Flick frustrated. He now recognizes that achieving success at Barcelona under these conditions will be difficult. Nevertheless, Flick remains dedicated to his role, stating that he will concentrate on what he can control and is ready to navigate the challenges beyond his control.
